Role Description

A Construction Foreman oversees, coordinates, and supervises the daily operations of WEB Construction Company on our construction sites, acting as the on-site leader of a team of crew members. This role bridges the gap between field crews, superintendents, operations and office management, maintaining safety compliance and providing on-the-job training for workers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project and crew management: Allocate daily task, monitor project progress, and help manage the project budget and timeline set forth by the PM and Operations team.

  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all safety precautions, standards, and OSHA regulations are followed by all crew members. This includes leading safety briefings and enforcing proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), along with filling out an filing any PTP’s or JSA’s required for work on a daily basis.

  • Technical guidance and oversight: Interpret blueprints, drawings and plans to ensure accurate execution of the project along with following project specifications to ensure all work aligns with project designs and quality standards.

  • Perform on-site inspections: Daily checks the quality of construction and compliance with specifications.

  • Material & Equipment Management: Ensure adequate inventory, coordinate material deliveries, maintain and repair equipment (saws, vibrators, mixers?, and verify inventory loads against shipping papers.

  • Daily and Weekly Task Planning: Help job Site Superintendent or other personnel if needed to plan ahead to make sure materials, equipment and manpower are onsite as needed to accomplish the tasks at hand that you are responsible for.

  • Team leadership and training: Direct, train, and supervise teams of 3-10 laborers, concrete laborers and finishers in daily tasks, assign work, monitor attendance, and resolve on-site conflicts. Motivate the team and resolve conflicts to maintain high morale and productivity.

  • Communication and reporting: Act as primary point of contact on-site, communicating effectively with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and other stakeholders. Prepare and submit progress reports and other necessary documentation as needed. Maintain daily logs, reports, and timecards; track material usage; submit accurate records for payroll and project documentation.

  • Problem Solving: Anticipate and resolve on-site problems, such as scheduling challenges, equipment malfunctions, and unexpected issues, to prevent delays. Resolve issues affecting project quality and completion, make sound judgements regarding weather and site conditions, and address work-related accidents.

  • Training & Recruitment: Recruit, train, and instruct field personnel; provide guidance and on-the-job training for workers.

  • Customer Satisfaction: Ensure quality, attention to detail, and thoroughness to meet client expectations and project requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven experience in the construction industry, with a minimum of 2-5 years in a supervisory role. Lead guy counts as a supervisory role.

  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment operation, and safety guidelines. The ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and project specifications is essential. Advanced knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, tools, and best practices. Some positions may require trade-specific licenses or certifications (e.g., journeyman electrician)

  • Leadership and management: Strong leadership abilities to effectively delegate tasks, motivate a team, and manage multiple daily priorities.

  • Organizational skills: Excellent organizational and time-management skills to coordinate resources (materials, equipment and personnel), and track progress.

  • Blueprint reading: Ability to read and interpret complex architectural and engineering plans.

  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills; ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and plans. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address issues and make quick decisions under pressure.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey instructions, report progress, and resolve conflicts.

  • Physical condition: Good physical fitness and stamina are often required to perform hands-on labor and endure varying weather conditions.

  • Education: A high school diploma or certification in a skilled trade is typically required, though some larger projects or firms may prefer a degree in construction management.

  • Certifications: Often requires an OSHA 30-hour safety certification, a valid driver’s license, and other trade-specific certifications. Valid driver’s license and Class B Commercial Driver’s License required; OSHA 10/30 Hour, ACI Finisher, Forklift, and Skid Steer Operator certifications preferred or to be obtained during employment.

  • Personal Qualities: Safety-oriented, honest, punctual, detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work well with others.

  • Reliability: Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential for this role.

  • Teamwork: Willingness to collaborate with others and follow instructions from supervisors.

  • Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for traveling between job sites

    Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Outdoor Work: Exposure to various weather conditions, dust, and noise on active construction sites.

  • Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, climbing, and kneeling. Regularly lift, carry, push and pull up to 60 lbs. repeatedly or continuously.

  • Equipment Use: Regular use of hand and power tools, ladders, and scaffolding.

  • Safety: Strict adherence to safety protocols and constant and proper use of PPE (hard hat, safety vest, glasses, gloves) required; additional PPE provided as needed.

Shift and Schedule

  • 8 hour shift (can vary)

  • Overtime

  • Day shift

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. 45 hours per week, with occasional extended morning & evening hrs. and weekends as needed and directed by Upper Management.
