Role Description

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for the daily coordination, supervision, and management of all on-site construction activities for WEB Construction Company. Acting as the eyes and ears of the general, contractor in the field, the Superintendent ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to proactively resolve issues to deliver successful projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling & Planning: Coordinate all on-site activities with Operations and Project Management, including sequencing of work, delivery and inventory of materials and scheduling of subcontractors and vendors. Develop and update “look-ahead” schedules at least 3 weeks out.

  • Site Management: Oversee daily operations, manage site logistics, security, and cleanliness. Open and secure the jobsite each day.

  • Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections to ensure work and materials meet project standards and specifications. Record and address deficiencies, implement corrective and preventive measures.

  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce company safety policies and OSHA/local regulations. Document incidents, conduct safety inspections, and hold toolbox talks. Ensure all inspections and trainings are recorded.

  • Documentation: Assist with project closeout, including punch list completaion and resolution. Prepare and submit daily reports on site activities, progress, materials, and issues.

  • Subcontractor & Labor Supervision: Lead and direct all subcontractors and construction crew. Resolve on-site conflicts and ensure all parties execute their contracted scope of work.

  • Communication & Reporting: Maintain clear communication with project managers, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and clients. Prepare daily reports and updates.

  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve construction conflicts, challenges, or delays (e.g., weather, supply chain).

  • Budget Monitoring & Cost Control: Collaborate with project management to track job costs, monitor expenditures, and prevent scope creep. Ensure efficient use of resources and prevent budget overruns.

  • Material & Equipment Management: Coordinate deliveries, ensure proper equipment utilization, and eliminate cost overruns.

  • Project Administration: Prepare work plans, develop temporary facilities, review construction documents for completeness and constructability, generate RFIs, and review submittals for compliance.

  • Team Leadership: Mentor and train field personnel, manage foremen, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure all personnel have resources to perform their work safely and efficiently.

  • Stakeholder Relations: Maintain relationships with owners, visitors, subcontractors, and suppliers. Assist with business development, bidding and proposals as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Approve timecards and requests for time off.

  • Prepare work schedules and assignments.

  • Communicate and enforce safety procedures and site rules.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred.

  • Experience: 5+ years in a supervisory construction role (Superintendent, Foreman, etc.); 10+ years of overall construction experience preferred. Experience in commercial or residential construction may be required.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, ACC,) scheduling software (e.g., MS Project), and MS Office. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications. In-depth knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, and sequencing.

  • Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate diverse teams. Experience evaluation and developing field staff.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with all project stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to resolve on-site issues quickly.

  • Organization & Time Management: Exceptional ability to manage multiple tasks, teams, and timelines simultaneously.

  • Decision-Making: Ability to make fast, authoritative, and knowledge-based decisions under pressure.

    Certifications:

  • OSHA safety certifications and other relevant certifications are required or preferred.

    Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Outdoor Work: Exposure to various weather conditions, dust, and noise on active construction sites.

  • Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, climbing, and kneeling.

  • Equipment Use: Regular use of hand and power tools, ladders, and scaffolding.

  • Safety: Strict adherence to safety protocols and constant and proper use of PPE at all times.

Shift and Schedule

  • 8 hour shift (can vary)

  • Overtime

  • Day shift

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. 45 hours per week, with occasional extended morning & evening hrs. and weekends as needed and directed by Upper Management.

Work Location: Based on business need and job location; some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required
