Role Description
The Construction Laborer/ Lead is a key team member responsible for supporting and supervising construction projects through a variety of manual labor and leadership tasks. This role ensures site cleanliness, assists skilled trades, manages materials, and upholds a safe, productive work environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of team.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Preparation & Cleanup: Clear construction sites of debris and hazards, set up and remove barricades, and maintain a clean work area.
Material Handling: Load, unload, transport, and organize building materials, tools, and equipment as directed.
Tool Operation: Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently under supervision.
Support Skilled Trades: Assist carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and other tradespeople with various tasks and equipment setup.
Concrete Work: Pour, and spread concrete, and other construction materials as needed.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines, enforce OSHA standards, and ensure use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Reporting: Promptly report unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment issues to supervisors; maintain work records and daily logs.
Measurement & Marking: Perform basic measurements and mark reference points as instructed.
Leadership: Direct, train, and supervise crew members or volunteers, assign daily tasks, and ensure project, schedules are met.
Logistics: Order, monitor, and move materials to ensure “just-in-time” availability for crews.
Equipment Operation: Utilize tools such as jackhammers, earth tampers, and small machinery.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in construction or manual labor is an asset; 1-2 years of experience and leadership preferred for lead roles.
Physical Fitness: Ability to lift up to 60 lbs., stand, walk, bend, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Teamwork: Willingness to collaborate with others and follow instructions from supervisors.
Reliability: Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential.
Communication: Strong verbal communication to provide clear direction and report progress.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey instructions, report progress, and resolve conflicts.
Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, interpret technical drawings, use basic math for measurements, and proficiency with hand/power tools and heavy machinery.
Licenses: Valid driver’s license required; OSHA 10 or CSCS cards often required for lead roles.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Outdoor Work: Exposure to various weather conditions, dust, and noise on active construction sites.
Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, climbing, and kneeling.
Equipment Use: Regular use of hand and power tools, ladders, and scaffolding.
Safety: Strict adherence to safety protocols and constant and proper use of PPE at all times.

Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. 45 hours per week, with occasional extended morning & evening hrs. and weekends as needed and directed by Upper Management.
