Role Description
We are seeking a dedicated Concrete Laborer to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle of concrete placement, from site preparation and form building to pouring, finishing, and maintenance. This physically demanding role is essential for creating durable structures such as a roads, sidewalks, foundations, and walls.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Preparation: Clear debris, demolish old structures, dig trenches, and compact earth to create a stable sub-grade for new pours.
Formwork: Design, build, set, and strip wooden or metal forms that define the shape and dimensions of the concrete pour.
Reinforcement: Install steel rebar, wire mesh, or anchor bolts within forms to provide structural strength.
Material Handling: Mix concrete by hand or machine; load, unload, and transport heavy materials and tools around the job site.
Pouring & Spreading: Guide concrete delivery trucks, pour concrete, and use shovels or rakes to spread wet concrete evenly into forms.
Finishing: Use trowels, screeds, floats, and other tools to level and smooth surfaces; mold expansion joints and edges; apply decorative textures, stains, or colors.
Curing & Protection: Apply waterproofing sealants, hardening agents, or plastic sheeting; monitor weather impacts on the curing process to ensure a durable finish.
Cleanup & Maintenance: Strip forms after curing, clean and maintain hand and power tools, and keep the worksite organized and safe.
Quality Control: Monitor curing to prevent damage from heat, cold, or wind, ensuring the structural integrity and appearance of the concrete.
Requirements & Qualifications
Physical Ability: Must be able to lift 50-60 lbs. Regularly, stand for long periods, kneeling, bend, and work on hands and knees.
Stamina: Capacity to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain), including early morning, nights, and weekends.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with concrete curing times, environmental impacts, and the use of hand and power tools (trowels, jointers, saws, mixers, vibrators, jackhammers).
Mathematics: Basic arithmetic for measuring dimensions and calculating the volume of concrete required; ability to read simple blueprints or construction plans.
Safety Awareness: Strict adherence to OSHA standards and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Education: High school diploma or GED required; on-the-job training or apprenticeship (2-4 years) preferred.
Experience: 2,000 hours of hands-on experience or a 3-year apprenticeship under journeymen workers is highly desirable.
Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for traveling between job sites.
Key Tools Used
Hand tools: Shovels, rakes, trowels, floats, edgers.
Power tools: Concrete saws, mixers, vibrators, jackhammers.
Equipment: Skid steers, wheelbarrows, surveying levels.
Work Environment
Outdoor Work: Exposure to various weather conditions, dust, and noise on active construction sites.
Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, climbing, kneeling.
Equipment Use: Regular use of hand and power tools, ladders and scaffolding.
Safety: Strict adherence to safety protocols and use of PPE at all times.

Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. 45 hours per week, with occasional extended morning & evening hrs. and weekends as needed and directed by Upper Management.
