Giving Back: Mankato Youth Baseball

Commercial construction may be our bread and butter, but when an opportunity arises to lend a hand in the community, we are always ready to dive in. When the Mankato Area Youth Baseball Association (MAYBA) approached me about working on their batting cages, I knew it would be a worthwhile project. WEB Construction did the renovation work at Franklin Rodgers Ballpark back in 2018, so adding some batting cages for youth baseball seemed like a great idea.

The Franklin Rogers Ballpark is one of many amazing projects WEB has had the pleasure of working on. If you’re a MoonDogs fan, you’ll have to visit the ballpark to see just how much time and effort were put into the renovations. It even won the 2018 Ballpark Digest Award for Best Renovation (MiLB / College). Being that we already had such a great relationship established with the park and the teams, I thought it would be a great idea to donate labor and equipment free of cost to perform the concrete work and set the posts. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to get involved. We started work on the batting cages the week of July 23, 2020. It only took about a week of our time to guarantee years of baseball fun

Growing up here has really given me a drive to see the community grow. I wanted to give something back to the city, even if it was as simple as a few batting cages. I remember playing baseball in the summers as a kid, meeting up with friends and playing at a local park or a neighbor’s backyard. The nostalgia is something I know a lot of people can relate to, and I love that WEB has the opportunity to contribute to the memories of the next generation of Mankato youth.

Until next time,

Josh Williams, CEO
